disgusting.

its articles like this that illustrate the nature of greed and corruption seated deep in the "hearts" of pathetic americans.
it is no wonder that we have such a disgusting international reputation these days.
with a population of pigs who care only about themselves, it is stories like this that it makes me want to work internationally even more.
yes, people like this, greedy pigs who feel the world owes them something exist everywhere, but starving children in africa, victims of genocide, famine, and war, do not have the support of their "government".
they do not have ANY hope what-so-ever without organizations such as MSF [medicins sans frontieres= doctors WITHOUT borders], the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Central Asia Institute. these organizations exist, unlike FEMA, purely to provide basic necessities such as MEDICINE, EDUCATION, and NOURISHMENT without getting involved in the "politics" surrounding the condition.
to be continued...

look before you...

again, today, this morning, at jo's.
my sketchbook= victim.
twice, in two weeks.
why is the sky falling?
what did i do?
why am i getting s*** on?
its not people right now, but birds.
and i like birds!
i have nothing against them, except that they dont look when evacuating their bowels.
because if they did, i would hope that they would surely choose to avoid me.

more later
i hate architecture.
it hit me like a ton of bricks.
yesterday, during a review [perhaps, one might say, not the best time to have the revelation].
what am i doing?
wasting time, this studio is merely a formality, the "capstone" to my days as an architecture student.
it makes me sick to think about the wasted time, so i shake the thoughts out of my head, "i wont regret doing this" i tell myself.
but really, i do wonder if this is why i have been feeling so crappy lately.
exhausted, all the time, no matter how "easy" i take it, no matter how well i eat, no matter how much i sleep.
headaches, nausea, body aches. neaver ceasing.
starting to worry, am i ok?

exceptionally dirty can be exceptionally beautiful
a water crossing to the ankle not even 5 miles into a run leaves one with sopping wet, squishy feet for the duration of an 18.6 mile "trail" run.
one so wet by the 12 mile mark that it is no longer noticable.
parts were hardly passable as a "trail", seeming more like "forest".
rocks so big and so close together, slippery or sharp.
soft, slippery mud
makes running nearly impossible at times.
slow going up hills as one looses momentum with each slide of the shoe.
two laughable faceplant falls.
a few bruises.
scratchy branches.
violent barbwire.
cold water.
humid oppressive air.
very plesant company
with lovely encouraging attitudes by all.
and
i had a blast!
and i finished running strong thanks to the necessity of having to hike, rather than run, at times due to the fact i was wearing road shoes on trail on a day when trail shoes were an absolute necessity thanks to the thunderstorm during the early predawn hours of the race.
i placed 3rd in my age group with a decent pace, but i was just in it to finish strong. and i did.
it was more taxing on my mind than on my body, the technical nature of the course was exhausting.
i will post pictures of my shoes and my feet later today.
my feet, fortunately enough look exactly like they did before the run. the shoes, not so much!

twinkle toes
i think i am about to loose a toenail, my first. i will spare you all the details but i will say this, i am not in pain. it just feels like someone is pressing down on my toenail. and it is purple-y beneath my fire engine red nail polish.
i hear runners "brag" about this badge of honor and although i wonder why its something to brag about, i am thrilled that now i can officially call myself "a runner"...

sneaks
so a training update:
after the 10 mile birdshit run on saturday
i debated giving the treadmill a workout on sunday morning.
but it was just too pretty, and too tempting, to run the 5 mile lake loop in the opposite direction. so i did.
i decided not to press my luck yesterday and gladly ran my 6 and a bit odd miles inside, on the rotating platform.
its all about balance, in more than one use of the word.
tomorrow its back inside and thursday as well, both 6 mile days.. friday is yoga and saturday is a 2.5+hr trail run on the greenbelt...depending on hydration levels, i might be doing a 30k trail race sunday.
yay.

dust to dust.
so i cleaned out my inbox for my email for the first time in AGES, over 800 emails or something. it was crazy. i deleated all but one because i forwarded it to the same person who sent it to me a few months ago. i thought [at the time] that perhaps it was something that this person should read again as it was this particular person who sent it to me in the first place...
you ask, why?
sometimes people say things but through their actions they illustrate the contrary... walking contradictions i call these people, merely shadows of a soul.
shadows because you can see them but you cant feel them.
and sometimes what or who you think casts the shadow is something completely different...you cant judge a thing or a person by the shadow it casts on the wall, but you should certainly pay attention to the writing on the wall...

tread with caution.
the second article that the times has printed as a warning to job-seekers who blog....
BE CAREFUL, anything you write could be held against you...to help stave off prying eyes, never use your "real" last name, and never write where you are in school [if you are indeed in school] or where you work [if you indeed have a job]..basically, any "unique" characteristics that could link your name with your person should be removed from your blog or your myspace page.
free speech is disintegrating before our very eyes...

energy update: friday june 9th.
i ended up leaving studio an hour early yesterday. i was starving. i went to the foodwhole and then i went home and fell asleep for nearly four hours. no joke, FOUR hours. i thought i would be screwed when it came time to "go to bed" last night but i was struggling to keep my eyes open by 930.
i feel like i have mono again [medically impossible], but its that familiar unshakable lethargy, drained and zombie like, that consumed me exactly two years ago.
life really does seem to go in circles sometimes.

shit on by a bird
confessions:
saturday, june 10th, 2006:
total milage: 9.25 miles
temperature at start of run: a balmy 78
temperature at end of run: an oppressive 84 [due to increased humidity and dry trail dust]
sun visible: yes, very much so.
time running: a slow 1hr and 30ish minutes
friends passed on the trail: one
people passed that i recognized: two
bottles of water consumed: not quite one and not quite enough
times stopped to stretch very sore achilles tendon in left leg:three
times shit on by a bird*: once, and more than enough.
*he hit the front of my shorts during one of the three times i stopped to stretch. and i had to continue running because i was only halfway through the run...i debated stopping and going home to change and then i figured changing would be a waste of time, so i used my water bottle to "clean" myself off...fortunately, i was carrying a water bottle and fortunately, it was hot enough that the shorts dried very quickly.
the lesson:: if you MUST stop, do not stop to stretch under a tree. and always, always carry a bottle of water.

sleepy.
i am so exhausted these days.
i cannot shake whatever it is that consumes me.
something, somewhere is leeching energy from my core, i cannot hold my eyes open past 9 pm anymore and when the alarm goes off at 530 i struggle to get up.
i am eating well, very much so, and drinking plenty of water, but i am still exhausted.
truly, severly exhausted.
i am loosing my hair, at the rate its been falling out since the first week in may, i thought it would slow down, its not. lots of it, everytime i touch my head.
i am in studio but all i want to do is go back to bed.

moved!
hi!
i moved my blog because i am desperately trying to get out of the horror known as myspace. i put one of those trackers on my page, and after looking at the cities where my readers are, i have come to the conclusion that i am being watched by someone whom i would rather not know my whereabouts and my whatnots...so, here i am.
